Stories that Heal. Words that Lead. Knowledge that Liberates.
At The Healing Studio (Ọgwụ), storytelling is central to our mission.
Through poetry, prose, and lived narratives, Chidinma Victory Oforji shares powerful reflections on identity, Belonging, Heritage Pride, Lived Experience, healing, racial justice, and leadership from the perspective of a Black woman navigating healthcare, education, and life.
These books are not just for reading, they are tools for growth, mirrors for reflection, and pathways to empowerment for Black and Brown readers, communities, allies, and changemakers alike.
That Migrant Nurse
That Migrant Nurse is a reflective memoir that traces my journey as a migrant nurse across three continents, documenting experiences of racialisation, migration, career stagnation, and survival within global healthcare systems.
Blending narrative reflection with poetic prose, letters to the reader, and guided reflective pages, the book invites readers not only to witness my story, but to locate their own.
Written from lived experience, it speaks to nurses and healthcare professionals, yet extends beyond the profession to resonate with Black and Brown professionals, global majority communities, and anyone navigating marginalisation, belonging, and identity in their careers.
This is both a personal account and a companion text: one that affirms, challenges, and gently supports readers to reflect, heal, and progress as ethnically minoritised professionals in global spaces.
Obianuju: A Journey Back to Herself
Obianuju: A Journey Back to Herself is a gentle yet powerful story that follows a young Nigerian girl navigating life between two worlds. Rooted in African heritage and shaped by the realities of migration, this beautifully told book explores identity, belonging, and the quiet courage carried by Black and Brown children growing up in spaces that do not always know how to hold them.
As Obianuju leaves the warmth of the Motherland for a new country, she encounters classrooms where her name is questioned, her accent stands out, and unspoken rules shape how she is seen. Guided by the wisdom of Sankofa, the grounding love of her family, and the strength of her own voice, she begins a journey of remembering, learning that she is more than stereotypes, more than doubt, and more than the limitations placed upon her.
Through lyrical storytelling and heartfelt reflection, the book shines a light on the lived experiences of migrant children and students across educational spaces. Obianuju’s story is both deeply personal and widely resonant, offering affirmation to every child carrying more than one culture, and reassurance that they are whole, worthy, and enough.
A beautifully illustrated chapter book that speaks across generations, Obianuju is ideal for children aged 8 to infinity and adults, suitable for classrooms, families, and learning spaces committed to nurturing confidence, cultural pride, and belonging. The book concludes with reflective and affirming elements, including a self-affirmation message, a guided journal section, and a love letter to the Black Child, celebrating identity, heritage, and becoming.

Written to inspire confidence in children and adults alike, My Skin, My Story reminds every reader that their skin carries history, resilience, and endless possibility. It challenges harmful narratives, uplifts marginalised voices, and affirms that every shade of Black and Brown skin is worthy, beautiful, and enough.
Perfect for parents, educators, and anyone passionate about representation, this book opens the door to positive conversations about race, belonging, and pride.
A celebration of identity.
A declaration of worth.
A love letter to every child who deserves to see themselves reflected in the world.
My Hair, My Crown
My Hair, My Crown is a joyful, empowering children’s picture book that celebrates the beauty, history, and magic of natural Black hair. Through warm storytelling and vibrant illustrations, young readers follow a confident little girl as she explores all the ways her hair can transform from fluffy fros and puffs to braids, twists, locs, and more.
Inspired by real-life experiences of raising a Black child in the UK, this story speaks directly to the hearts of children navigating identity, belonging, and self-love. With each page, readers discover that hair is more than just hair, it is culture, heritage, pride, and a crown passed down through generations.
Perfect for building confidence and helping children embrace their own unique beauty, My Hair, My Crown is an essential read for families, nurseries, schools, and anyone who treasures representation in children's books.
A touching celebration of melanin magic, generational love, and the power of owning your crown.
